Homework Policy
Here at Optimus Learning School, we have certain goals for homework club. The goals include: helping students complete their assigned homework from their school, correct their mistakes, and give them an opportunity to excel in school. Teachers have a stamp system that allows them to distinguish between which homework assignments are corrected or ones that are not. If the assignment has one stamp, this means that the homework has been corrected by the teacher but the student has not corrected the mistake. When there’s 2 stamps in the front of the paper, this means that the teacher has corrected the homework and the student fixed the corrections. Sometimes students would finish their homework at school and tell the Optimus teacher that they are all done with homework. It is the teacher’s responsibility to still check the student’s homework and issue the stamps before the student turn it into school the next day.
Each day, it is the teacher’s responsibility to fill out the comments section on the Optimus website. Comments consist of the student’s behavior and academics during class. It also includes if the student finished their homework or not. In addition to the comments, teachers must also include grade checks in the student’s comments on Mondays. The teacher must ask the students if they receive any grades back from school. Grades includes: test scores, assignments, or projects that the student received.
When students are done with their homework, they must either be reading a book to take the e-learning quiz after or be working on math quizzes on the online portal. If the student does not get a score of 70% or higher, he/she must take the quiz again. If they fail again, the teacher needs to give the student a worksheet that will help the student practice and understand better. The teacher may resort to extra math worksheets for the students to work on if they have extra time. All of the work that the students finished should be kept in their own personal folder. The worksheets must be dated so parents can see what their child has been doing during class.
